Stargazing at John Glenn Astronomy Park

Free guided programs on clear Friday and Saturday nights, March through November. A 28-inch telescope, some of Ohio's darkest skies, and no light pollution. Register a free parking pass at registration.jgap.org. The park is 24/7 year-round for personal equipment.

Swimming at Lake Logan

Since swimming is banned in Hocking Hills State Park, Lake Logan State Park is the alternative — a 400-acre lake with a 527-foot swimming beach, boat rentals (motors up to 10 HP), and excellent fishing. Minutes from Hocking Hills on SR-664.

Hocking Valley Scenic Railway

Heritage train rides from Nelsonville through Hocking Hills' most scenic stretches. Seasonal themed rides including fall foliage specials and holiday events.

Rock Climbing & Rappelling

Hocking State Forest (9,815 acres) contains Ohio's only designated rock-climbing and rappelling area, plus 59 miles of hiking trails. Significantly less crowded than the state park.
